Missoula Brewpubs
In a city where you can fish in the morning and ski the afternoon, there are plenty of reasons to raise a pint of beer and propose a toast. Appropriately, Missoula harbors several landmark brew pubs, with each one featuring an impressive selection of locally brewed microbrews.
The Iron Horse Brewery, or what is also known as the Bayern Brewing Company, on Railroad Street, is a popular Missoula brew pub, especially with locals returning from a day of fly fishing or rafting. It brews its own microbrews and claims to be the only German microbrewery in the Rockies. The Bayern Amber rates as the most popular choice with locals.
Sean Kelly's, on West Pine Street, features 17 microbrews and imports on tap, including locally brewed Kettlehouse as well as wildly popular Fat Tire. Nightly entertainment, including euchre night, adds to Sean Kelly's appeal.
The Rhinoceros, or what locals call the "Rhino," enjoys a huge following, especially with University of Montana students, for its 52 beers on tap which includes many local microbrews.
The Montana Ale House, on Higgins Avenue, is also a good watering hole for Montana microbrews, including Blackfoot River Beer brewed in Helena.
