Parks and Recreation department of Missoula, Montana takes care of the fun side of town, and the fact is they do a darn good job of it. With about 45 parks spread across the city, there's no lack of leisure outlets for the young and the young-at-heart to have some quality rec time.
How a community spends their free time says a lot about their state of mental and physical health. Going by the number of parks, pools, nature trails, and splash decks that are overflowing with fun seekers, it can be safely assumed that the folks of Missoula, Montana have nothing to worry about as far as recreation is concerned. The city is endowed with an abundance of 45 well maintained parks where locals get to walk, trek, bike, hike, kick a ball, or simply stroll and feed ducks. Splash decks, swimming pools, and water parks take care of hot summer days nicely.
Events such as the Annual Five Valleys Fun Run/Walk Challenge series for all ages and all abilities encourage folks to stay active. Parks and rec also conduct youth and adult sport events, tennis, softball, soccer, and volleyball coaching.
Catch 'em young and teach 'em well seems to be the motto for they have classes that teach the basics of Outdoor Skills such as Map and Compass Skills for kids. There are also courses in white-water rafting, rock climbing, and other such high adventure camps targeting 12-15 year olds, who would otherwise be lolling in front of TVs.
Summer fun is ensured at Splash Montana at the Playfair Park on 3001 Bancroft, with waterslide, spray features, and a whole lot more fun features. Parks and rec dept. also maintains the Currents Indoor Aquatics Center in 600 Cregg Ln.McCormick Park. This is also the address of the Parks and Recreation Headquarters where the office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
